Renowned for her exceptional, inspirational leadership and contributions to Scotland’s economic development, Jeanette is a multi award-winning entrepreneur who received an OBE for Services to Business, Technology and Charity in 2020. She holds honorary doctorates from both Aberdeen Universities and her dedication to empowering women in business is exemplified by her involvement in the Scottish Chambers of Commerce business mentoring program and her participation in books such as ‘Wonder Women: Redefining leadership in the world of work’ and ‘We Lead.’
Originally from Yorkshire, Jeanette is a seasoned systems engineer who made Aberdeen her home following a family tragedy in 1986. After facing redundancy in the oil and gas industry, Jeanette founded PCL Group in 2000.
Starting from humble beginnings at her kitchen table, she has grown the
company into a global IT service provider with a presence in 27 countries. PCL Group caters to a diverse clientele, from individual consultants to multinational corporations.
Recognising the value of diversification, Jeanette ventured into hospitality in 2017, establishing upmarket wine bar, Grape & Grain. Despite no prior hospitality experience, she quickly turned the establishment into a multi award- winning and much-loved Aberdeen venue. Her latest venture, Mediterranean – a restaurant celebrating the flavours of the region, has further solidified her position as a hospitality entrepreneur.
Jeanette’s impact extends far beyond her successful businesses. Her leadership in the technology sector is evident in her roles as CEO of PCL Group and Blue Gentoo, both pioneering companies in the EnergyTech space. Further groundbreaking work with GoHawk culminated in the development of the world’s fastest flight route algorithm, a testament to her innovative spirit and technical expertise.
Committed to Scotland’s economic growth and digital advancement, Jeanette has held influential positions on various Scottish Government partnerships and associations. She was a founding member of the Scottish Chambers of Commerce business mentoring program and plays a pivotal role as the Scottish Chamber of Commerce Ambassador for Pakistan, strengthening trade relations between the two nations.
A philanthropist at heart, Jeanette has channelled her success into supporting the community through PCL Group’s involvement in charitable initiatives. Notably, the company’s sponsorship of the Aberdeen University branch of Robogals which has inspired countless young women to pursue careers in engineering. Jeanette’s journey is a testament to her unwavering determination, strategic vision, and commitment to excellence. Her legacy is marked by the businesses she has built, the innovations she has driven, and the positive impact she has made on her community and beyond.”
